Congrats Becky!

Earlier this month Becky Eckstrand, Director of Social Services, received the Minnesota Nursing Home Social Work Association Annual Service Award.

Becky lives in Sartell with her husband Corey, their two kids and dog Bella. She chose to major in social work when she realized it was the first class she really enjoyed at Saint Cloud State University and she wanted to make a difference in the life of others. After graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in social work, a minor in gerontology and a minor in human relations she has worked in long term care ever since. In the eight years that Becky has been at Good Shepherd she has worn many hats including discharge planner, nursing assistant supervisor, staff educator, activities, nursing assistant, housekeeping, meal assistance, social service supervisor among many others. Her favorite part of her job is the great team she is able to work with at Good Shepherd and making sure the residents have the best quality of life. When she’s not at work she’s usually spending time with family somehow, including attending dance related events for her daughter Mallory, hockey for her son Eddie or shopping. When asked what kind of advice she would give someone that was looking at going into social work, was that each day can be difficult but know that you do make a difference. She feels very honored to receive this award.

We are thankful to have Becky as part of our Good Shepherd team.
