Meet Carol of Good Shepherd

Meet Carol of Good Shepherd. Carol was born April 21st, 1947 to parents, Alvin and Lorraine Klug. She grew up in Albany, MN. She attended Holy Family Catholic School, grade one through eight and then went on to graduate from Albany High School.

Carol looks back at her young adult life and remembers enjoying dances at the Pelican Lake Ballroom and the New Munich Ballroom. She worked for Finger Hut in the shipping department for a short time. She then became a Nursing Assistant at St. Benedict’s Center in St. Cloud. Carol has always loved to help people. This desire to help shined through in her thirty-year career at St. Ben’s.

For many years Carol spent the month of January visiting her brother, Tom, in Texas.  She especially liked going to the rodeo shows as well as movies at the local theater. One year she even went to a polo match near her brother’s home!  Her other travels included visiting many places, camping in a motorhome.

A year and a half ago Carol adopted Hazel, a six-year-old dachshund.  Hazel is a wonderful companion and has brought much joy to Carol’s life. Six months ago, Carol and Hazel moved into their Shepherd Oak apartment. Carol shares that she appreciates so many things about the apartment community. She finds that so much of what she needs is all inside under one roof. She likes many activities, namely Bingo and the monthly birthday parties. She also values the option to have some of her meals in the dining room. She often goes on the organized Dial-a-ride outings. Carol is grateful to be able to get on the bus with her fellow tenants to go shopping and to get groceries, but she especially enjoys the lunch outings to local restaurants.

Carol likes to be around people and has become even more outgoing since her move.  She often takes walks inside and visits with people along the way. She is always willing to give a helping hand where needed.  She is very thankful for Jenna, the apartment manager. Carol says “Everyone, staff, and tenants, make you feel so welcome!”

One of Carol’s favorite hobbies is adult coloring.  She proudly shows her many beautiful works.  She has a knack for putting colors together by using her creativity. She uses a rainbow of colors, with both colored pencils and markers, to make beautiful works of art.

We are so happy that Carol loves where she lives and calls Good Shepherd her home!
