COVID-19 Update

Greetings from Good Shepherd and Shepherd of Grace!

While Minnesota is under more strict rules with the Stay at Home executive order, staff and residents at Good Shepherd and Shepherd of Grace are finding a new normal. We hope all our family and friends stay healthy and safe amid these uncertain times, and we ask you all to do your part and stay home if possible, only leaving when absolutely necessary.

Due to the increasing number of cases in Minnesota, we are limiting visitors in all our buildings with the exception being essential health care services and extreme end of life compassionate situations. Throughout both campuses, we are working with families to discover what means of communication they have available and assisting residents in using those means to stay in touch. We are finding technology extremely helpful to reassure residents and families by facilitating face to face video chats through FaceTime and Google Duo.

We are doing different activities, per housing setting based on staff availability, to keep residents engaged and active. Some examples are staff visits, activity packets with reading materials, brain games and adult coloring, and on our smaller nursing home households, we are playing fun hallway games like trivia, exercise, and the ever-popular BINGO, with residents sitting in their doorways. And now that Spring is here, in our apartment settings we are doing outdoor walks, as able, to get a bit of fresh air.

Thank you for your continued prayers, financial donations, and supply donations. Your amazing support is greatly appreciated.

“The people are nice, and everything is neat
and clean and so convenient. I really enjoy painting;
I find it very relaxing. I also enjoy going to Church
and all the activities on campus,
I’m even singing in the choir.
It keeps me busy and out of trouble.”
