The Good Shepherd Community is a very rewarding place to work. We dedicate ourselves to caring for residents, tenants, and clients through the values of service, compassion, trust and respect.

Typical Day as a Custodian

Janitorial and custodian work is valuable because it serves others in meeting a specific need. Serving customers and meeting their needs is the basis of all companies, regardless of the product or service they offer. There is a real need for janitorial services in nearly every senior community and it’s a noble task to meet that need. Additionally, this type of work requires hard-working dedicated people to carry out this task. Our residents need this service too, and who better than you to provide it? If the need exists, then the work is valuable.

Here’s what a Typical Day of a Custodian may look like.

By performing janitor and custodial services in our senior community, you’ll be working directly with our staff in serving our wonderful residents. We require your service so our nurses can focus on their core service and what they do best. Our RNs, LPNs, and CNAs are trained in giving high-quality care to the residents. They are experts in the technical aspects of this care. However, a clean, sanitized facility is critical for delivering a top-notch resident experience. Therefore, every time you clean an aspect of our community, you are partnering with our team of nurses to deliver care to the residents. This is an opportunity that is both important and valuable.

On a typical day, a janitor or custodian’s tasks might include:

  • Emptying trash cans
  • Cleaning restrooms and keeping them stocked with supplies
  • Sweeping, vacuuming and washing floors
  • Shampooing carpets and polishing floors
  • Washing windows and mirrors
  • Moving supplies

If you are serving the residents well, then you’re in a meaningful job. Join the team and give Good Shepherd a call today!
