The bus departs from the Shepherd Oaks Apartment entrance at 7:30 a.m. 310 13th St. N., Sauk Rapids, MN 56379. Street parking only. Arrive early and enjoy a pastry and coffee or juice in the Shepherd Oaks dining room (donations accepted). Bus returns to Shepherd Oaks Apartments at approximately 7:45 p.m. Special Shepherd pricing $105.00 includes, bus, meals, cruise and Theater.

Welcome aboard the “Chester Charles II”, the only river boat at the source of the great Mississippi River

Relax aboard the “Chester Charles II”, on beautiful Lake Itasca, the source of the mighty Mississippi River. The tour follows the route taken by Ozawindib when he guided Henry Rowe Schoolcraft to the headwaters of the Mississippi River in 1832. The greatest river in the United States begins it’s flow here and continues 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. Tour begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 12:45 p.m. Includes lunch! We’ll stop at the visitor center for park exploring, as time allows, before we board the bus to Jasper’s Theater in Park Rapids.

After the headwaters, we will head to Jasper’s Theater

At Jasper’s theater, we will enjoy some clean comedy suitable for the whole family along with plenty of toe-tapping music! Easily accommodates large groups, handicap accessible, concessions and air conditioning. Showtime is 3:00 p.m. for a two-hour performance. Box supper will be provided for the ride home and includes a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and water.
