Good Shepherd has trained twelve tenants and community members at the last Dementia Friends Training on May 18.
Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom, the Dementia Friends initiative is underway in Minnesota. By helping everyone in a community understand what dementia is and how it affects people, each of us can make a difference for people touched by dementia.
Good Shepherd has four Dementia Friends Champions, a person who can facilitate the Dementia Friends sessions. It is our goal to have quarterly Dementia Friends training session on our campus in Sauk Rapids and Becker. The training is for anyone who wants to understand Dementia better, and at the end of the training commit to a dementia-friendly action.
The goal of the Dementia Friends Session is to help community members understand dementia and the small things they can do to make a difference for people living with Dementia.
